This past Saturday at Sugarcup Trading in Oak Park, I set up a photo booth for kids to take a photo for their mom’s on Mother’s Day. It was a great time had by all! Thanks to everyone who came out.
Hi, My name is Eva.
I'm a Chicago native, who has a love for art, my three cacti, fantasizing about cooking the meals in Food & Wine magazine, drinking tea, and sometimes waving back at trees that seemingly wave to me while the wind blows.
Although I have always taken portraits of family, friends, and interesting faces on the street, I've recently found myself conversing and photographing tiny people who have the most insightful things to say.
My love for portraiture lies within the ability to connect with people one on one and the opportunity to document a moment in their lives. I always love coming across old photographs of my family and I, especially the ones when I was little. There are no words to explain the feeling you get seeing yourself as a child. I think this is why I have come to do what I do.
This blog is constantly updated with my most current work.
I currently live and work in Chicago.

Sugarcup Trading is located at 110 N. Marion in Oak Park, IL. Hope to see you there!

Chinoynellum was a very adorable and vibrant individual, with a contagious smile. She was also extremely polite to repeatedly introduce herself to me, “my name is Chinoynellum!”, knowing I would probably forget how to pronounce her beautifully unique name!
She was having a great time on the swing set, her dad giving her a push every now and then. I just had to take a photo of her shadow as she was high in the air. Those little legs sticking out are the cutest thing!

Kids On The Beat: 12th Planet
I was wrapping up my walk, and about to call it a day, when I happened upon skateboard crew 12th Planet. I had never seen or met 12th Planet, but they welcomed me with handshakes all around and loads of positive vibes. I love meeting young people who are on a journey, working hard, and doing what they love.
You could tell they loved skateboarding, and the camaraderie that comes with it. They gave support to each other when they tried a trick and made sure each other was alright when someone fell.
Unfortunately the whole 12th Planet crew wasn’t present, and I could only stay for a short while to shoot. But I have a feeling we’ll meet again…Keep on keeping on 12th Planet!

Chicago

While out and about downtown this past Monday, I spotted the incredibly cute Ihrie family visiting from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was thrilled when they said I could snap a few photos of them.
This one of Joshua and Tarah looking at the kids, while they stare at me…LOVE!
Tarah and Joshua are also photographers, check out their studio here: https://www.facebook.com/SparrowStudios

Elena was on the go, speed walking full throttle toward me down the street! I couldn’t believe how fast those little legs could move.
After patiently standing for a few shots, she preceded to show me what she has learned in yoga and ballet class. She was in her element and I was very impressed! Namaste Elena!

I spotted Ian suited up, running bases before his game today. His team was 1-1 and there was no way they were walking away without the big “W” for game 3! Good Luck Ian!

I saw Shea at the park with her mom while I was on a walk. I loved her electric red hair, bright blue eyes, and just played soccer mud stained knees! In this last photo, she’s laughing as her mom recalls a story of when she dressed up as a monster to scare her cousins…so great!
I was taking head shots today, and my last client had brought her baby boy (Austin) with her. I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos before I took the backdrop down!

I was in St. Louis this weekend and spotted Sophia outside the St. Louis Art Museum with her mother and her aunties (who were all in tutus as well!) and just had to snap a pic of her. How could I miss her, right? She was all smiles for the camera, obviously having a great day with the ladies. Nice to meet you Sophia!
These are my cousins children; so beautiful and so full of life!
We spent a great day playing outside and coloring easter eggs. The adults enjoyed coloring the eggs, the kids relished in the cool Spring air.
It was magical up on the mountain that afternoon. We were at the very top, at the end of the road, and it began to snow.
I was moving back to Chicago in a few days, and was coming to terms that my time in Vermont was at an end. So being there with Grace, Althea, and their mother Fallon, on top of the mountain, among the trees, the quiet, and the snow, was very special for me.
Grace and Althea were so beautiful to photograph. Their spirits were strong and wise. Living among such beauty of the natural world, I saw in each of them some quality of that place.
